Permission to publish or exhibit materials from the World of Speed Archive must be requested and granted in writing.

Requests for permission to publish are considered on a case-by-case basis. Unless stipulated otherwise, publication permission is for one-time non-exclusive use, is contingent upon receipt of applicable fees, and requires appropriate citation for the material published. Any subsequent use (including subsequent editions, paperback editions, foreign-language editions, etc.) constitutes reuse and must be applied for in writing to the World of Speed Archive.

World of Speed claims only physical ownership of its complete permanent collection and all items therein, not necessarily the content within the physical objects. Permission by World of Speed is required for applicants to publish Museum-created representations of items within World of Speed’s collection.

If you wish to use published or unpublished materials from our collections in a publication beyond the scope of fair use, you must determine whether a.) the work has passed into the public domain and is no longer under copyright protection, or b.) if it is still under copyright protection and, therefore, you must find the copyright holders and obtain permission to excerpt, reproduce, or publish the material. The applicant accepts all responsibility for obtaining any additional required permission from copyright owners of materials being excerpted, reproduced, or published. The publishing party assumes all responsibility for clearing reproduction rights and for any infringement of the U.S. Copyright Code.
