Title: Ford’s Total Performance: The Golden Age
From 1962 to 1970, the Blue Oval committed itself to the domination of motorsports on a worldwide basis. It succeeded — and then some. Ford threw itself into Indy and Champ Cars, Formula 1, sports cars and endurance racing, NASCAR, the quarter mile, SCCA Trans-Am, World Rally Championship, Baja, Pike’s Peak, and all manner of sedan racing in Europe and Australia.
Join us as Michael Ward discusses Ford Total Performance and what it meant to him as an 18-year-old automobile enthusiast, aficionado, and avid race fan from Southern California. He'll also share stories from the “golden age,” starting with Part I: Le Mans, 1966.
Michael has been a World of Speed docent since the museum opened. He retired from UPS R&D after a career of teaching and engineering computers — machines that are also objects of his passion, after, of course, automobiles.
