Learn all about the world of collecting, customizing, and constructing model cars in our next volunteer talk! World of Speed volunteers Gregg McElhinney, Mike Pearsall, and Andy Frezza will share advice and stories about their shared passion for (and years of experience with) model cars.
Gregg has been collecting model vehicles since he was 5 years old, and still has quite a few from that time. When he couldn’t find models of competition cars he wanted, he began altering stock models. In his retirement, he runs West Linn Toys, an online store, to continue pursuing his hobby.
Andy, who essentially grew up at Portland International Raceway and was named the SCCA’s Oregon Region Rookie Driver of the Year in 1996, started an online diecast and vintage video game business in 2004.
Mike, who will address questions concerning advanced building, is an officer and founding member of “Scale Auto Builders Northwest,” a local model-car club. His models have appeared in model-car magazines and have won numerous awards around the U.S. and Canada, including “Best in Show” at the Portland Roadster Show model contest.
