Guest Services Associate – Part-time
Position Summary: Guest Services Associate is a front-line contact person for all guests visiting or inquiring about museum and promotes increased and repeat attendance by providing outstanding service. Handles cash transactions at the coffee cart, grab and go and retail sales areas. Anticipates and responds to guests in a friendly and positive manner. Responsible for providing highest level of service. Works as a team player in meeting guests needs, and actively contributes to the efforts of other departments when necessary. Works most weekends.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Offer superior service to potential and actual guests to the museum according to established procedures.
Greet and interact with guests enthusiastically and proactively.
Prepare coffee drinks to fulfill customer orders.
Assist in day-to-day museum store operations.
Provide general information about the museum, its programs, and exhibits in a courteous manner.
Handle gallery entry sales at the front desk. Direct guests to correct locations. Be knowledgeable about the museum’s mission, programs and exhibits.
Follow all cash handling and ticketing procedures. Actively promote membership sales.
Assist in greeting school groups and directly groups to their final destination.
Maintain high standards in general housekeeping to provide an inviting and friendly atmosphere. In the event of an emergency, follow crisis procedures to ensure staff, volunteer and guest safety.
Work collaboratively with Guest Services Manager, Education Director, Executive Director, Curator, and other museum staff and volunteers to provide an efficient and seamless experience for guests.
Assist in other museum operations departments when needed.
Other job-related duties as required.
Prior barista, retail, sales, museum and/or customer service experience preferred.
Problem Solving and Conflict Resolution Abilities.
Commitment to excellent customer service and teamwork.
Ability to work as part of a team as well as accomplish work independently.
Willing and able to maintain safety, rules, and regulations.
Friendly, service-oriented, and positive attitude.
Ability to adhere to the museum’s grooming guidelines and provide a professional appearance.
Able to listen and effectively communicate with children and adults of all ages and backgrounds.
Prior experience with point-of-sale cash handling systems preferred.
Flexible availability & adaptability. Weekend availability required.
An interest in motorsports, helpful.
Ability to bend and lift repeatedly.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time in both an indoor and outdoor environment.
Ability to safely push, pull and/or lift up to 30 lbs on an occasional basis.
