World of Speed Celebrates Harley-Davidson Exhibit Opening this Veterans Day Weekend
Local motorsports museum presents Harley-Davidson: America’s Motorcycle
WILSONVILLE, Ore. (Oct. 29, 2018) — World of Speed, a Wilsonville, Ore.-based nonprofit motorsports museum, is proud to announce the opening of a new exhibit over Veterans Day weekend celebrating Harley-Davidson’s long history with the U.S. military and the iconic brand’s influence on American culture. The exhibit will feature 10 motorcycles spanning the past century, including a bike ridden by Clarence "Clay" Morrow, played by Ron Perlman, a fictional character in the FX television series Sons of Anarchy. The Harley-Davidson exhibit will be on display for a year through November 2019.
World of Speed is kicking off Veterans Day weekend with a museum member-only talk and tour with Curator Ron Huegli at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, a great opportunity to hear the history and culture of Harley-Davidson in America. The museum is also collecting donations for a Turkey Ride, sponsored by Latus Motors Harley-Davidson in Gladstone, which helps homeless veterans through the holidays. Food and cash donations support Fort Kennedy, a 501(C)3 nonprofit organization that provides necessary food, clothing, and resources for homeless veterans and their families in Clackamas County, Oregon. With the donation of canned/boxed food visitors will receive half-off admission. With the donations of a frozen turkey, visitors will receive a free admission ticket for the day.
On Saturday from 12 – 2pm, Cort Webber and 105.9 The Brew street team will be onsite celebrating the opening and giving away chances to win awesome prizes and helping to collect Turkey Ride donations. Exhibit sponsor See See Motorcycles will also be displaying some of their favorite Harley-Davidson motorcycles during the opening weekend, helping to make the holiday weekend opening a must-see event for motorcycle fans.
“We’re really excited about this exhibit, especially with the opening coinciding with Veterans Day,” said World of Speed Curator Ron Huegli. “Harley-Davidson is synonymous with American culture and particularly America’s veterans. All veterans, active military, and their families get free admission November 10, 11, and 12.”
World of Speed is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Tuesday to Friday and Sunday, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. For membership and pricing information, visit worldofspeed.org.
