Racing Home Movies on the Big Screen
Racing home movies donated to the Collection will be shown on the big screen throughout the weekend. Take a seat and stay a while, or check them out while you explore the other exhibits in the gallery. Check out 50 years of drag racing, boat racing, land-speed record attempts, midget car racing, Indy racing, and more from across the Pacific Northwest and all the way down the west coast. If you have a racing home movie transferred onto DVD or digital file that you’d like to include, please deliver it to the World of Speed Archive at least one week in advance.
Record Your Racing Story (Gallery)
Got a story to tell? Perhaps it’s from your time racing or building, when you watched the race of a lifetime, or the first time you worked on a car as a kid! Can you share a story about an item you donated to the Collection? Whether three minutes or 15 minutes, we’ll record your story in the museum gallery — look for our recording station at the white couch — and preserve it as part of our Racing Story Vault community stories video series, and make it available online for all to experience and share.
Collection Tag & Post Contest Speed-a-Thon (Archive Room)
With only a few days left until the month-long Tag & Post Contest is over, the Archive Room will be set up with multiple tablets for you to come in and add as many tags and posts as possible. Don’t forget, the online collection catalog is available from any online device, but come by the Archive Room the last weekend of the month and get a special treat for participating in the Speed-a-Thon.
Preserve Now, Find Later! Free Workshop (Archive Room)
The World of Speed Archive wants to help you care for and share your precious memories and objects, even if they aren’t about cars or motorsports. Archivist Katrina O’Brien will walk you through some simple measures you can take to save and care for your photos, films, vintage gear and clothing, memorabilia, letters, posters, tools, videos, and even emails and digital material. Come ready with questions if you have specific items in mind.
